Summary

The Grants Accountant is responsible for post-award grant administration, managing federal, state, city, and private foundation grants including budget vs actual analysis, forecasting, reviewing financial records, and ensuring timely and accurate reporting in accordance with the fiscal practices and requirements of our founders.

Description

  • Management of a portfolio of government and private foundation grants
  • Work closely with program staff on program budgets, budget modifications, and other financial requests
  • Timely preparation and submission of periodic vouchers/invoices and expenditure reports, including all required supporting documentation
  • Timely preparation and submission of budget modification requests as needed * Monthly analysis of the general ledger and process adjustments as needed
  • Review of vouchers and requests for payment on assigned grants to ensure budget supports claimed expenses
  • Preparation of work papers and supporting documentation for program and agency-wide audits, and assist in the preparation of financial reports
  • Perform duties in accordance with mission, cultural competency, anti-discriminatory and other policies and procedures
  • Any other duties as may be required by the Director, Grants & Contracts, Manager, Budgets & Grants, and senior staff

Profile

  • Experience with government grant administration and accounting practices
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance and a minimum 2 years grant management
  • Experience with HHS Accelerator and VIPS systems preferred
  • Ability to multi-task, strong follow-through skills
  • Strong knowledge of accounting software, Blackbaud's Financial Edge preferred
  • Advanced knowledge with Excel; formulas, pivot tables, v-lookups required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Detail oriented, highly organized
  • Excellent communication [written and oral] skills
  • Strong analytical skills; ability to analyze reports and make recommendations
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
