GENERAL SUMMARY
The Customer Quality Engineer is a critical role within REI's Quality organization. Persons in this role are in frequent direct contact with customers and are the first point of contact when product quality issues arise after shipment. Persons in this role use of a wide range of technical skills and lead problem solving teams by using quality tools such as fault-tree analysis, 5-why, and 8D methodology.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Ø Coordinates root cause identification, corrective actions and preventive actions of product quality issues resulting from manufacturing processes (Wafer Fab and Assembly/Test Sites) or. Prepares failure analysis (8D) reports and tracks customer return status.
Ø Acts as quality representative to external customers, responsible for continually improving the customer's valuation of the quality experienced with any, product, or service beginning with new product development through product end-of-life.
Ø Provides technical liaison with customers, failure analysis labs, factories and suppliers as well as frequent technical support of sales and marketing.
Ø Supports customer audits and site visits.
Ø Frequently interacts with customers and functional managers and engineers in product development, design, test, marketing, sales, planning, manufacturing, etc. These interactions often are about potential, real or perceived customer quality or reliability concerns arising from technical, administrative or logistical events.
Ø Interfaces with wafer fabrication and assembly/test sites, engineering, and sales to provide technical support for process and product qualifications, and reliability assessments of REIs' products.
Ø Provides packaging expertise by addressing package related quality and reliability issues at customers' or REI assembly sites.
Ø Strong English communication skills - written and verbal - are needed as well as an ability to work comfortably across organizational boundaries to drive change and influence actions without direct authority.

Ø Responsible for driving compliance with and alignment of customer quality requirements and commitments for products, processes and services delivered.
Ø May perform customer specification reviews and consolidates inputs from various other functions.
Ø May generate qualification plans that are aligned with REIs' internal requirements while meeting any applicable customer specific reliability expectations. Tracks progress of qualification status, reviews reliability test results, determines disposition of non-compliant products, reviews and releases qualification reports for REIs' internal factories as well as foundries and subcontractor assembly/test sites. Utilizes previously generated qualification data in order to apply qualification by similarity (QBS) as much as possible.

Ø Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:
PREPARATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Ø Requires a BS degree in Electrical Engineering with 3-5 years of related experience in the areas of semiconductor manufacturing, product engineering, packaging, quality engineering.
Ø Must be well-organized, self-directed, self-starter, highly motivated, proactive problem solver with the ability to get results without owning resources and possessing direct authority.
Ø Experience in semiconductor manufacturing and qualification processes as well as reliability procedures, semiconductor assembly/packaging and testing.
Ø Familiarity with JEDEC and AEC-Q100/Q101 as well as ISO 9001 standards. Hands-on ISO audit experience is a plus.
Ø Familiar and experienced with problem solving methodologies such as 8D or PDCA.
Ø Experience in statistical process control and yield analysis, i.e. PAT, SBL, SYL computations, and outlier/maverick elimination.
Ø Should have good working knowledge of common software tools such as Web browsers (IE), Microsoft Office applications. Knowledge of Lotus Notes would be beneficial.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ø Must be able to stand for 4 out of 8 hours, and transition easily from sitting to standing throughout day, must be able to lift 20lbs waist high, must have enough strength of vision to see objects in a microscope and on a computer monitor with ease. Must have steady hands to be able to microprobe.



Social/Environmental Requirements:
Ø Must be able to prioritize and balance work load of several different projects, must be able to use knowledge and instruction to determine best course of action independently. Must be able to work with internal and external customers to comprehend goal of the requested analysis, and be able to effectively communicate the analysis results.
Ø Limited safe exposure to chemicals with appropriate safety gear, works for extended periods of time with Electrical Bench setup, SEM and Optical microscopes.
