Praxair has an immediate need for a talented Tax Manager to join our dynamic Tax team in Danbury, CT. Our Tax team is made up of over 15 tax professionals who bring a wealth of tax knowledge, experience and exuberance to everything we do. We work together with Treasury, Corporate Accounting and other Praxair business groups. We are dedicated to minimizing time spent processing tax filings and enhancing the professional growth of our team members.

Property Tax Manager Responsibilities:

  • Motivate, manage, coach and develop a staff of two

  • Handle all aspects of property tax including filing, payments and appeals

  • Work with operations to maximize property tax abatements

  • Handle all real estate taxes

  • Responsible for severance taxes related to oil and gas

  • Research and resolve all customer related inquiries with respect to property tax bill back invoices

  • Research and respond to business inquiries regarding property tax matters



Job Requirements:

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, MST degree or courses a plus

  • 5+ years' of Property Tax experience in either a large industry or Big 4 Public Accounting with a Manufacturing and Real Estate background

  • Experience using PTMS is a plus

  • Prior experience managing a team preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to drive process improvements utilizing innovative solutions

  • Ability to work cross functionally in a matrix organization

  • Ability to drive value and minimize tax within the property tax function

  • Strong project management skills

  • Strong desire to work in a progressive tax department where meeting the compliance deadlines are considered the minimum requirements for the position. Desire to work on "value added" special projects beyond compliance and audit defense.
